Some people, casting long shadows on the road, are waiting the sunset from one of the highest panoramic points in Formentera, from here it is possible to see the whole Island. On the right the small village of Es Calò.
From the top of the Empire State Building, challenging the usual pressing crowd and the wind chill; while waiting for the night to frame the NY lights, the sky took fire with this stunning sunset. This is another shoot for which I travelled to NY. Got it! As usual I've tried to obtain an high level of detail, it is possible to see the most famous bridges, like the Brooklin Bridge and the Verrazzano Bridge then Ellis Island and Liberty Island with the silhouette of Lady Liberty against the red reflection in the water. The golden domes were reflecting the last rays of light and the first artificial lamps like mirrors interrupting the monotone colors of the buildings. I had to export in Adobe RGB to preserve the red gradient however as usual the original image (36,5 Megapixels) has more and more hues and better colors and if printed in large format can reach a maniacal level of detail.
The eye of a tropical storm looks like wants to pull the sea inside of himself. The photo has been made from the coast of Isla Mujeres, Mexico, two minutes before to get the heaviest shower of my life.
A view of the old village of Ischia Ponte, lights are reflecting coloring the sea of the small isle of Ischia close to Capri, in front of Napoli, Italy: literally a small jewel in the Mediterranean Sea.
May be they are just a giant swamp, or technically just a giant river, but I think they are a mystical place, somewhat magical at every hour of the day and night. So equipped my beloved Nikon 24-70, from the deck of one of the everglades typical and famous Airboats I've tried to shot the panorama even though in fast movement.
Almost all of these old acacias have more than one hundred year each, if summed all ages the Avenue counts more than 5000 years. The light of the sunset during the fall season, coming from the right gives to the place a magic mood.
...Take me away... A minivan enjoys a sunset at Formentera in the Balearic Island. The scene inspired in me an idea of freedom and relax that I have not resisted to frame while thinking to the famous Doors song (Spanish Caravan).
This photo has been awarded as Photo of the day on Yahoo on 2 Feb 2014 and as Photo of the day on ViewBug on 21 Feb 2014.
Broadway, the 5th and the 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) illuminated, like the arteries of a giant living being, and shot from the top of the Empire State Building after the sunset, during the blue hour, when the City begins to switch on his lights. The cars draw long trails on the camera film, the gold of the pinnacles shimmers as the sky turns to dark purple.. I can say I've traveled to NY to obtain exactly this photo for my collection.. The picture is composed of 5 long exposition HDR (from till 30secs) printed on a big surface reveals an incredible number of invisible small particulars. The native resolution is 34.1Mp (7148x4764) and can be printed without loosing details up to huge dimensions.
The Island of a famous '80 videogame? No! It is Isla Contoy taken from the observation tower, close to Cancun in the Mexican Caribbean Sea, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The path in the jungle leads to a small sweet water pond where seabirds go to rest in a safe place well protected by palms and mangroves.
A thunderstorm surprised me just few seconds after I finished to shooting the sunset in the Everglades, close to Everglades City. The lightnings were were so frequent, that I captured one of them freehand, no long exposition, no triggered shot. The event brought to my memory a sentence: "the concept of one shot, one photo."
A sailboat floats alone in front of a huge incoming tropical storm after the sunset in the blue hour in front of Isla Mujeres in Mexico. Everything assumes a magical light, the sensation of calm of this caribbean paradise lets the worries go away and nothing bad can happen today, even a storm will pass by.
Small tropical storms are frequent in Isla Mujeres, and their gifts are terrific colors and colorful sunsets. Here, a small sailboat waits that the storm passes, close to the coast while an airplane flies on the horizon.
This is my preferred interpretation of the famous monument. It will enter in my restricted collection of "my way" photos with New York, Rome, Paris, and some more. I can say this is another shot for which I have traveled till there to obtain it. The only unexpected thing were some works of building and restructuration, with a lot of machinery and a mess of mud and gates under the walls, so I had to cut them off from the framing. Soon, when the work will be over, I will go back and take this same photo with the new road and the water, for now, please enjoy this one. I think that even without the classic view from water level has his charm.
The sun rises behind a house which is built directly on the mexican coral reef. It is absolutely one of the places where most I would like to live. And the Sunrise, there, is absolutely stunning almost every morning.
"One night wandering in the Everglades..." since I heard this strophe from "Dance Of Death" by Iron Maiden I always desired to visit such magical place. When the road, casually, brought us in Everglades City (200 souls) we had the luck to assist to a incredible, unforgettable, terrific sunset like this. A thunderstorm was incoming, the clouds were getting heavier and heavier, a flock of birds was flying far from it, toward the setting sun. And we were there, wandering in the Everglades. Pure magic.
The sun rays behind some red clouds, in a dramatic color explosion, over the white cliffs of Etretat, in Upper Normandy. Coming back from the shooting of a golden sunset scene over the small town the sky gifted us this stunning show. An really exclusive spectacle for us and for someone else who is enjoying it on the top of the cliffs.
Only the wind deserves the right to break the silence of a desert made of white sand. I've been lucky to get a partly cloudy sunset at White Sands National Monument, close to Alamogordo in New Mexico in a warm summer day. Another magic place on the Earth.
